Nuestra América Productions is a digital media production company founded and operated by Alvin Bailey and Jennifer Wager. Our mission is to collaborate with a diverse group of international artisits and media makers to create cutting edge programming and polycentric media distribution networks which advance the struggles for full human rights and social, racial and economic justice.


FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, VENEZUELA RISING
Alvin "Skipper" Bailey is the Executive Producer. With a long history in film and music production, Skipper's most recently produced work is Under the Radar, a feature length film about the impact of the US blockade on cultural exchange between Cuban and US musicians of African descent. The film has garnered several awards, Audience Favorite at the Indpendent Black Film Festival. including Skipper has been a longtime spokesperson with IFCO/Pastors for Peace and is currently based in Washington, DC.

 



JENNIFER WAGER, FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR/PRODUCER, VENEZUELA RISING
Jennifer Wager is a NYC media educator and director of the film. She currently teaches video production and post-production at Manhattan Neighborhood Network, the flagship community TV station in the U.S. She also serves on the board of the National Mobilization Against Sweatshops, with whom she has facilitated a community video oral history project, producing a DVD and Web-based series of short films on the lives of immigrant and working class women from the Lower East Side. Since 1995, Ms. Wager has created several online experimental education projects, including the Smithsonian-award winning W.E.B. Du Bois Virtual University. Ms. Wager holds a M.A. in African Studies from Ohio State University and a M.A. in Communication and Technology from Georgetown University. This is her second documentary on Venezuela. Her first, Hij@s de Bolivar, was shot in the months immediately following the 2002 coup.

EVE GOLDBERG, PRODUCER AND WRITER/EDITOR, VENEZUELA RISING
Eve Goldberg has worked as a writer, producer, director and editor on films and television for over 25 years. Her credits include Academy Award winning documentaries and Emmy nominated television programs, as well as videos for corporate and non-profit organizations. She is the sole owner of a media production company, Cottonwood Shadow Productions. Her film credits include: Legacy Of The Hollywood Blacklist, Cover-Up: Behind The Iran/Contra Affair, Dorothy Healey: An American Red, Panama Deception, Lori & Cathy Get Married, Subterranean Secrets and Real People.


RAMON T. TORRES PADILLA, PRODUCER, VENEZUELA RISING
Ramon T. Torres Padilla has been involved with several organizations that carried out social services activities in particularly with the Sai Baba Organization in Venezuela and Panama and the binominal association MIRANDA Asociacion Venezolana Danesa. Ramon T. Torres Padilla, joined the Venezuela Rising production team convinced that he would be able to help to expose the insides about the progressive social political changes that are now taking place in his native country. In his words: "I believe that with “Venezuela Rising” the world will have the opportunity to see a fresh and natural view, a true experience about the Bolivarian Revolution and its achievements in improving the lives of all Venezuelans, especially through the social Missions. The world will also learn how the Bolivarian Revolution is helping my country, for so long slaved by the heavy change of poverty and lack of in the enforcement of the basic rights. I hope that the world will see how the masses especially women are engaged in endless efforts of participation."

CATHERINE MURPHY, PRODUCER, VENEZUELA RISING
Catherine Murphy first made a student film in 1992 on the protests against the Columbus quincientinial while at New College of California in San Francisco. She has worked on the production teams of a variety of films, including Gay Cuba, Adventure Divas, and From Cuba with Love. She has also worked as subtitle editors on The Greening of Cuba, OUT: Portrait of a Revolutionary, Refusnicks, Panal de Sueños, on the Cuban Children’s Theatre troupe, La Colmenita. Catherine has produced for Pacifica Radio special national broadcasts. She is a founder and curren editorial board member of Digital magazine Cubanow.net, published by Cuban Film Institute/ICAIC and the Martin Luther King Memorial Center in Havana. Catherine is currently directing her first film, on the Cuban Literacy Campaign of 1961.
